Got it. MICHAEL ‘freakin” CARPENTER. The producer, the master of all instruments, songwriter extraordinaire, he of 5 projects released on the Not Lame Recordings(R.I.P.) label and a ever-flowing stream of truly excellent projects, year in, year out.
2012 will be no different from Carpenter.

The first is from MICHAEL CARPENTER & THE CUBAN HEELS that are coming from “By Request – Volume 2”. This came out on December 30, 2011. A month ago.
The second song is from “SOOP 4”, which stands for “Song Of Other People”, an another ongoing side project where he does cover tunes and performs all the instruments himself. The song I chose is one of the most beautiful songs every written – It ranks very, very high. It is “Whole Of The Moon” by The Waterboys. Listen to the build. Video below.

Way ahead of you here, Bruce. I’ve bought the downloads of all off the SOOP and By Requests released last year, and a check of your Not Lame records will show a plethora of MCarp purchases back in the day. Love this guy’s pop sensibilities (“Breathe Again” being one of my very fave powerpoppers EVER) and, having traded a few e-mails with him and joined his mailing list, he seems a pretty cool guy to boot! Don’t have to nick these two..already got ’em!! I imagine most folks here have an awareness of Michael, but to any newbies…if you love sparkling melodies, Brit Invasion styled beats punched up for modern ears and extremely well-crafted harmonies, you need to be listening to this guy…
Yeah, I get very, very passionate about hard-working, smart and continually productive (talented) musicians – and fans supporting them. The creation of music is SOOOO taken for granted by music fans now in this over-capacity of abundance(most of it free)….MC’s just got it in spades….
