Swim Atlantic is a Portland, Oregon based quartet that puts the emphasis of their work on two things:
1) Vocal harmonies
2) Hook-heavy pop songs
Beyond that, any musical “spice” is fair game. With songs that cull influences from the 1960s through today, the band draws on a variety of influences that include The Beatles, Brian Wilson/The Beach Boys, Queen, Motion City Soundtrack, and onward. Together, they bring their influences to create a buffet of pop tunes that promise something for everyone.
The band plays multiple dates a month in the Pacific Northwest and has recently recorded a debut EP that was produced in-house and recorded and engineered by the band as a collective. Using their background in writing and performing, each member has brought their experiences forth to assist the group.
The band enjoys adding their vocal blend to other well-known songs from “Billie Jean” to Queen’s “Bicycle Race.”
Owing to the fact that all band members write, they are overflowing with originals and with two principal songwriters, the band is engaged in a friendly competition a la Lennon and McCartney: each member is urged to bring their best to the table, as everyone has a multitude of songs waiting in the wing at any time.
