FUTUREMAN RECORDS – Surprise Box 57

Posted on 16 August 2012

One of the more exciting developments for power pop fans in 2012 has been the re-emergence of FUTUREMAN RECORDS and the work of Keith Klingensmith to bring rare and out of print power pop releases back into print, though, their work is(at least for now) digital only.

Futureman Records continues its classic power pop reissue series with The Idea’s “Sideways Smile”, The Lolas’ “Ballerina Breakout”, and Starbelly’s “Lemon Fresh”.  All reissues are expanded editions with extra tracks, including 12 extra tracks added to “Lemon Fresh”.   Many more classic releases planned including plenty of Futureman exclusives, so keep an eye out!

Here’s the KEY THING:   ALL proceeds go to the artists!

Amazing.

So, come on, fellow power pop geeks – THIS is the kind of label that we call can support and help keep expanding a long list of great rare, lost and out of print music out there at a very, very reasonable price.

GO CHECK IT ALL OUT – Trust me, you want to.  Head on over to THIS LINK.

The songs below are from the newly release tribute to The Who’s “Sell Out” – which is called “The New Sell Out”

This is an enjoyable comp! I have waited since maybe 2000 or so when I learned that this comp was being made. Then it never materialized and I was bummed. But it’s nice to have it available finally (for download).

Heck – I’d buy it if it was on CD.

After buying this amazing compilation from Futureman, I opined on Facebook that it may very well be the best project of its type I’ve ever heard. The line up of bands is simply amazing – power pop’s finest – and the quality of the covers is stunning as well. Even the faux commercials are brilliantly executed. If you’re on this site, you need “The New Sell Out.”
