THE UNCOOL DANCEBAND

Guitarist Geoff Carline explains “We were a New Wave Pop band and in a short time built up a good local following and signed a record deal with Polydor. I remember thinking at the time ’this music business is a piece of piss’. The deal was for three singles. The first two singles flopped, Polydor dropped us, and the band folded. Not so easy after all!”

The singles:

“Jacqueline”/”No. 17”
“Let Me Be Your Boyfriend”/”Heads I Win”

“My Girl, Shy Girl” (appeared on the Various Artists’ LP “Logical Steps”)

“Jacqueline”

“Let Me Be Your Boyfriend”

Great songs.Especially the Uncool Danceband. Its shocking that those two songs flopped. The melodies are still in my head several minutes after listening,”Jacqueline”especially.Polydor should have taken more of a chance with them in my opinion. Its a shame they didn’t get to make a full length album.

  2. Mark Boersma says:

The joy of hearing unearthed gems like this is offset by disappointment at the total lack of commercial success. Bad marketing, lousy public taste? It’s a shame.

Are downloads of these songs available for purchase anywhere?

  3. Steve Bogart says:

Check this out. It’s an unreleased track from the Uncool Danceband
