The Real Numbers started as a powerpop collaboration between Dave Ambrose(gtr & vocals) and Lawrence Grodeska (lead vocals & guitar). Along the way, the band managed to convince The American Professionals’ frontman Chuck Lindo to join them (on bass and vocals) along with wunderkind session player Adam White on drums
If their debut CD (“Welcome to the Numberhood”) was the housewarming party, this new EP “1-2-3-4-5” is the backyard barbeque. More of a “Come on over, park your bike in the garage, there’s beers in the fridge and dogs on the grill” kinda affair. It was recorded over a longer period time, in-between line-up changes, job promotions, marriages, babies, etc. but FWIW when you listen to it, this has a more cohesive feel and than Numberhood.
The song “Do the Wiggle” was previously released as a single and their silly makeshift video garnered a bunch of attention locally and even in some national press.
Lastly, for anyone in the Bay Area, their next show will be opening for, and then sitting-in as the backing band for Kelly Jones to perform several songs off her (Mike Viola produced) CD, She-BANG! According to Dave, the Real Numbers “are super excited to play with Ms. Jones!”
