Every month or so look for the latest episode in the POP GEEK HEAVEN Podcast series.
Each show will have a different theme that will appeal to the ‘pop geek sensibility’ and explore some of deeper, less explored areas and corners of the ‘power pop’ genre.
EPISODE TWO explores a new series we’ll do here at PGH – talking about and hearing a bit from albums that have not appeared on CD. PGH Podcast #2 will talk about Tom Dickie & The Desires, Rubber City Rebels, The Hollywood Stars, The Pop, The Elevators, Vance Or Towers and The Rings.

Hey Bruce,
just listened to podcast two. thanks for playing The Pop. having lived near LA i would attend numerous shows at The Whiskey, circa 70’s and 80’s (pop/glam/punk) scene. many times The Pop would bill with The Know, The Fury’s, The Zippers. those were great times for live music in LA! where have all the good times gone???
Robert
Man, those WERE good, exciting times, no doubt! Such a different backdrop for indie music now – and that’s not old fogey talk, it’s just a fact. For me, it was the Boston scene in the mid/late 70s, one of the best in the country alongside LA and NYC. Man, The Furys, Robert! Man, I have three of their early singers – I play ’em often, believe it or not. They were like The Who doing the skinny tie thing(at least on vinyl- maybe not live)….
All killer, no filler. Seriously, not a duff track in the whole show.
I really enjoyed the blast from the past I never was a part of.
Is there a podcast feed? I tried “RSS for this section” in Media Monkey but that didn’t show the episodes
It’s silly, Tim – I don’t know how to do it — and pretty time starved to figure it out. If someone, who knows how to set that up, would contact me and let me know, I’ll get it set up….
I think the problem is that the RSS feed for the podcast doesn’t include any MP3 enclosures. I don’t know what content management software you’re using, but it might have an option to include the enclosures. I know WordPress does it automatically, for example.
I’m afraid that’s the extent of my knowledge…
nice podcast…
Many thanks, Tom! Just sort of talk off the top of my head w/ the music – so it’s definitely always a gut and honest display of what I dig! 😀
