Why does the Letterman band play along with the artists?
Is there some sort of union contract that says the house band must play with the featured artist(s)?
The Letterman band did this with the Black Crowes in the early 90’s – when the band was touring on their first album, ‘Shake Your Moneymaker’. Just Chris and Rich (singer & guitarist – respectively) doing their thing and the rest of the Crowes were MIA – the Letterman band played all the other parts.
I think they also did this to Westerberg when he came through selling his CD ‘Eventually’.
