SKELETON STAFF
I found out about Skeleton Staff in early 2010, as I recall. “Solipsism” was a good ‘ole fashion stunner, eliciting a ‘where on earth did this come from?!”. I promptly got the CD up on Not Lame and it sold very well until NL closed down at the end of that year.
That album was in my TOP of the year and is featured in the recently released “Power Pop Prime” book series, “Volume 9”(which focuses on the best from 2010).
The band has a new album out, “Psychomorphism”. You really do need to hear it.
So let’s begin here with one track from it for you to savor and add to yr collection.

Skeleton Staff are a virtual band and art-pop ensemble currently based in Sydney Australia. The band began in 2007 and are represented by four cartoon characters. They’ve released two albums and maintain an online presence via a semi-weekly web-comic strip. The real identities of the people behind this project are currently unknown.
The albums have been very warmly recieved. Chris Manning (of Jellyfish) says of Solipsism: ”I really appreciate what you are all doing. Your recordings are imaginative and well executed. I think ‘Compromise’ is my favorite track.”
And Powerpopaholic placed their second album Psychomorphism at the #11 spot on their Top 25 Best Power Pop Albums for 2011 list.

Best album I’ve heard in a long time!
Loved the last album (“The World Wants To Dance With Me” placed #3 on my list of favorite songs from 2010) and love this one too (“I Told You I Was Poor” and “Gateway To The Stars” are the standouts to my ears). Definitely worth checking out!
I hear a bit of XTC in their musical DNA, so if you like that band you should try these guys on for size.
Very cool power-pop-psych with perhaps a hint of Richard Davies/The Moles and Paul Roland, plus great Australian accents to boot. What more could you want?
