JARED LEKITES – Surprise Box 50

Okay, very cool.  Surprise Box 50 has arrived.  I hope to reach 100 at a faster rate is the good news!  I have some great Surprise Boxes lined up for the next two weeks.

Now, it’s great that this new Beach Boys albums is getting press, the band is touring AND…people are buying it!  It’s selling extremely well and that, at least for me, is a bit of surprise in these days of anything remotely connected to power pop that is rarely the case.

So usher in Jared Lekites and the title  from his album, “Star Map”, which is one of a great example of how much so many young artists are profoundly influences by Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.  Simply, it’s Wilsonian inspired gem.

INFO ON JARED LEKITES:

Jared Lekites is a singer/songwriter from Southern California by way of New England. Now based in Oklahoma, his sound is heavily inspired by the revolutionary music of the 1960s, much of his influence is evident in his sound which hearkens back to the bygone days of analog tapes and authentic instrumentation.

His first independent release, 2010’s ‘Looking For Diamonds’, was met with critical acclaim along with comparisons to his idols The Beatles and Brian Wilson being delivered from both sides of the Atlantic.  Now with 2012’s ‘Star Map’, Lekites weaves a strong web by drawing on further influences while still maintaining the sounds that drew us to him in the first place.
