ERIK VOEKS
ERIK VOEKS is one of those ‘feel good’ stories for long-time fans of power pop. In 1993, he released an ‘out of the box’ classic in the genre with “Sandbox”. It was the very early days of the internet but power pop fans spread the word online inside AOL and CompuServe and early forms of forums – and its legend was firmly esconsed and settled. “Pure bliss for the Matthew Sweet set. Its brainy hooks and colorful chord changes recall Robyn Hitchcock and The dB’s. Its lush harmonies speak to an affinity for Big Star and Teenage Fanclub.” – Pitch.com.
It was on a small East Coast label in the U.S. called Rockville, who released a few other cool albums and…pretty much disappeared.

So let’s get to the point. After his 1994 debut, Voeks pretty much disappeared. The story, the reasons matter little but it was a topic of discussion amongst the power pop intelligentisia and everyday pop geek, “Will there every be more music from Erik Voeks?!” In 2012, there was a project that surfaced that teased pop fans(with a different but very cool, interesting and enjoyable sound), playing out live(including venturing to Spain) and in 2013, he’s decided to flex his pure pop muscles again and released “Finilu”, a 4 song EP, a track which can download and enjoy right now! below
