THE PGH PODCAST – Episode One

Posted on 02 October 2011

Every three weeks or so look for the latest episode in the POP GEEK HEAVEN Podcast series.

Each show will have a different theme that will appeal to the ‘pop geek sensibility’ and explore some of deeper, less explored areas and corners of the ‘power pop’ genre.

EPISODE ONE explores the early years in the history of the Not Lame Recordings label, focusing on the years 1995-1997.

Podcast goes dark at about 5 mins…

    • dudeman says:

I’ll look into that….thanks for letting me know….i know it was working earlier but one never knows!

      • Steve Newton says:

What seems to have happened is that the songs are missing after the initial Starbelly burst of genius.

Your commentarty is there but every other song is 3 odd minutes of silence.

  2. Troy Paterson says:

Same for me…the podcast goes silent after about 5 minutes, but picks up again a little bit later. It is great news to hear that Starbelly is recording again. Lemon Fresh is a favorite of mine.

I’m really enjoying the site…thanks for all the hard work!

I’ll look into this later today – might be something w/ my Amazon S3 account – so hang tight here for a bit. I’ll get it fixed later today(Oct. 1)……..

  3. Roland Cyr says:

Bruce – glad to see that this is back also. I used to love Brian Ibbott’s NL sampler podcast (I won’t say “back-in-the-day”!) and will follow this one also once it’s sorted out. Will you offer an itunes subscribe link?

  4. dudeman says:

SO strange – a few weeks ago when I did this, it was all there and then….boom, it’s not. I have to totally fix it…it’s all on my MAC which is at home, not at my office….hang tight. I’ll get it fixed here sometime today. I’m in the shuttling the kids here, there and then a bit everywhere thing for the next six hours. ;-P

  5. dudeman says:

Okay – fixed the file. It’s all set and ready to download – or re-download, if you were on the early folks downloading it…..

  6. billybliss says:

Great to have PGH finally up & running! I second the vote for a podcast subscription. FYI: “The PGH Podcast – Episode One (Version 2)” still drops out from 1:41 to 3:16.

    • dudeman says:

I’m going to try and find the time to figure this one out next week, folks….Just want to get all the new content, songs, videos and information up first…then go backwards to this.

  7. Kevan Brewer says:

This may just be on my end, but the fixed version is now missing the first song (the only one that worked in the first version).

    • dudeman says:

Yeah, got to fix that…rookie, that I am, evidently! ;-P

Not Lame did almost 40 podcasts, but the wonderful, awesome Brian Ibbott did those for Not Lame, not me. I had so many hundreds, thousands of different things to push along w/ the development of PGH(it’s just me) that I somehow did something strange w/ this…..When I get a chance to exhale, I’ll fix this, Kevan….

  8. Rex Palm says:

I loved those NL podcasts done by Brian of Coverville. It would be cool to see if he’d let you post some of those here.

    • dudeman says:

I had all of them…and could have saved them to share but BlueHost, who was the host company, trashed them all. One of their bills ended up in a spam filter, lost – and 30 days later. POOF. They slayed all that work – talk about LAME.

      • Tim Elliott says:

I just checked and I have episodes 1 to 28 (6 and 8 are missing) if you’re interested. That’s where I discovered the incredible Michael Carpenter and The Naomi Star. If you’re interested, let me know

  9. Rex Palm says:

I don’t know if I have all of them, but I have quite a few that I downloaded. If there’s no other way to get them and if Brian doesn’t mind, we could re-post some of them. I’ll check to see what episodes I have and let you know. We may also be able to find some re-blogged on the net. I’ll do some hunting around and let you know what I come up with.

  10. Rex Palm says:

Hey dudeman, So far, I have found episodes 23-31 of the Not Lame Podcast, if you’d like me to host them so you can post them as flashback Pods. I know I have earlier episodes as well, on my drive at work, which I’ll have to copy for home. Let me know if you’d like to feature any.
